Comprehensive Plan 2019-2024

In order to achieve the Amherst County Public Schools Comprehensive Plan Vision for all students, a detailed Roadmap was needed to ensure a clear path forward. As a result of ten months of intensive work—gathering input and feedback from parents, students, staff, and the community, as well as understanding the data, and conducting an honest evaluation of organizational barriers—we now understand what is necessary in order to implement changes that are focused on the learner.

This five year Roadmap to Serve Every Child, Every Day Comprehensive Plan will allow us to focus on continuous improvement in all of our schools, but more importantly will concentrate on building relationships that foster a student-centered culture.

The process used by Dr. Robert Arnold, Superintendent, and the Steering Committee followed a structure that included a strong community engagement effort, a review of performance, operations, and multiple points of budgetary trend data, the collection of SWOT Analysis information which reviewed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats from all stakeholders, concluding in this initial phase with the creation of the Amherst County Public Schools Comprehensive Planning Committee. This committee, representative of all stakeholder groups, was divided into the six target areas determined by the results from the review process. The focus will always be our learners. ACPS students depend on all stakeholders, internal and external, to work together toward one comprehensive plan that is focused on building their Roadmap to the Future.
