FAQs

We answer some of the common questions we receive from parents and guardians.

Q. I am German, and my partner is French. Can our child study at AASO?

A. Yes, s/he can. We accept binational students regardless of their parents' countries of origin.

Q. The father is American, but our child only has Japanese citizenship. Will this be a problem?

A. Not at all. We define dual nationality by both heritage and citizenship.

Q. Is language proficiency in both English and Japanese an admission requirement?

A. No, it is not. When a student only speaks one language, however, we assess the likelihood of him/her acquiring the other language during the trial week.

Q. How much does it cost to study at AASO?

A. Our monthly tuition is 36,000 yen. There are also other miscellaneous fees. Please contact us for more information.

Q. Do you have a school bus?

A. No, we don't. Students must arrange their own transportation.

Q. Do you serve school lunch?

A. Yes, we have a school lunch program, but registration is optional.

Q. Is AASO eligible for the government's kindergarten tuition subsidy?

A. No, it is not.

Q. Are students held back when they do not acquire their grade-level academic skills?

A. No, they are not. Grade placement is solely based on age.
