Day 1:
10 mins- intro to lesson:
- Big idea, essential question, targets/ objectives
15 mins- presentation:
- Basics of collaging through mixed media, show different examples so students know that there is no right way to express identity in this project. Show online resources like pinterest and google. Show them my inspiration artist
20 mins- teacher demo and studio time:
- Have them do a light sketch or bullet points on a paper. Research on collaging and mixed media , have them take some notes and look at images on laptops. Have them come back together to share what they learned and discovered. Do a quick demo on how they can create an identity collage through materials in the room. End with going over the end goal which is for them to express who they are through mixed media and collaging.
5 mins – closure: clean up / collect rough drafts
Day 2: Create

2 mins- pinpoint materials we have and remind them of studio rules
40- studio time – assist as needed

8 mins – clean up
Day 3: Continue creating
- Studio time
35 mins- have students continue working
- Studio clean up
6 mins – clean up
- Closure
9 mins- students give positive feedback to each other and I collect their work before they leave
Day 4: Focus: creating
- Studio time
40 mins- students create
- Closure
10 mins- students clean and I collect art work
Day 5: Final work day
- Studio time
30 mins- students put final touches on collages
- Reflection
13 mins- students fill out google forms document as their reflection/ final part of project
- Close
5 mins to clean up
Day 6: Present
50 mins- each student presents art work and one thing they learned about themselves and their identity through their collage
