Schlitz Audubon Center-Fall 2022 I shadowed this Nature School during my time at Cardinal Stritch University. We as a class got to experience students who attend this school learn real life and educational skills through nature. The learning was individualized per student and there were different stations outside ready for the learners use. Teachers and staff would observe nearby while stepping in to help when necessary. Towards the end the students went indoors, hung their jackets up and proceeded with futher learning indoors.
Greenfield Bilingual School- Fall 2022 I was a student observer at Greenfield Bilingual School when I was a student at Stritch. I completed 20 hours of field experience in an elementary classroom setting where I worked 1-1 with students and in small groups. I got to connect with the art teacher there and got the opportunity to network with the art teachers supervisor.
West High School (Wauwatosa) - Spring 2024 I got the opportunity to observe a high school art teacher. I observed how she manages high school students during Ceramics studio time.
Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate- Fall 2024 I got the opportunity to shadow two of the art teachers at this school, Adam and Jessica. I learned valuable things from both teachers by both talking to them and observing their classroom. Later on, I got placed in Jessica's classroom for a field placement where I got to work closer with her 6th grade classes and was observed for a lesson plan that I created. This experience taught me different ways to work with all types of students with different ability levels specifically with middle school students.
La Escuela Fratney- During Spring 2024 I got to visit La Escuela Fratney. This was the first school that I got to observe where Spanish was spoken continuously. It was nice being in an envrionment where my native language was being spoken. I felt like this school is going to touch the hearts of the students of color there who's primary language is Spanish and make them feel at home. The art teacher's classroom was vibrant and colorful and it helped me to feel like a true artist when I was in her classroom environment.
Early Learning Center- During Spring 2024 I visited the ELC where I both shared my childrens book with early learning students and got the chance to see how the little ones learn.
Zine Fest- I participated in Zine Fest during Spring 2024 and I helped sell zine books that were created by my classmates and I. I promoted Alverno as well as networked with professors from different schools like UWM when they came by our booth.
