As students first come to the Island, we recognise that they could easily be overwhelmed. We've been there too! Moving to a new country, among new people, and with new rules and activities to provide structure. That's why Orientation exists! It's a one week program designed to introduce you to everything you need to know to make your time at ALU fun, productive, and rewarding.

Why Orientation?
Why Orientation?
We've designed the programme to establish a strong foundation for a community that supports both individual and collective excellence. Thus, all sessions and activities are guided by and centred around our ORCHID values. To make this simpler, we've broken it down into following sub-themes:
🗺️The Island is My Campus
Centred around buidling community at ALCHE and in Mauritius, this theme gives students the chance to get to know each other, their campus, their community in Pamplemousses and greater community in the island. It is also centred around getting students to know the laws, policies and processes that guide how they should engage with each other and other members of the community.
🚀My Life as a Project
What are the skills that our students need to learn and the resources they could take advantage of in order to succeed.
📚Learning at ALCHE
Students get to engage with the teams dedicated to helping them with their academics, members of faculty as well as resources available to ease their learning process
👥Ikaze
A celebration of our diversity and the commonalities that bring us all together as a community.
Our hope is that all this information adequately prepares you to not only succeed in ALCHE, but also craft the ideal student experience. Like we mentioned, Orientation exists to provide information that will help you acclimate to the island, get comfortable, and learn all you need to know about ALCHE. As a result, Orientation not only discusses residential life, academics, and the student experience, but also exploring the nearby town and the Island as a whole, policies that will help you succeed, clubs and societies for you to join, and all the leadership opportunities that exist in ALCHE.
