Math in third grade begins to be more complex and sets the foundation for many life-long skills. Some of the skills we will be teaching are:

Addition and Subtraction of 3 digit numbers

ways to SHOW multiplication and division (not just memorize facts)

memorizing the multiplication facts for 0-9

representing a fraction using pictures, numbers, and a fraction line

understanding how to find the area and perimeter of a shape

classifying quadrilaterals according to their attributes

We encourage you to talk to your child about how you use math every day. Look for ways to allow them to use math skills around the house or while grocery shopping. Help us make math "real" for your child and not just numbers on a worksheet. We also encourage the use of the i-Ready math website for both remedial and additional practice.
