Students, parents, and teachers:
As specialty teachers we decided that the best way for us to enhance your at home learning experiences was to develop this website with the best activities we could find. Our hope is that these activities will enrich your days and help to round out the other educational materials your classroom teachers are providing.
Thanks to all of you who have participated in our Specialty activities. Have a great summer and we will see you in the fall!

Check out this awesome backyard obstacle course created by Jacen and Linzie Bergmann!
This is the fourth and final week of Specialty Olympics! This week you will design and complete your own backyard obstacle course. You will need sidewalk chalk and a piece of equipment (your choice: basketball, soccer ball, lacrosse net, trampoline, swing set, etc). Once you have designed your course, you can challenge yourself and family members in several ways:
-time yourself / try to beat your record
-compete with a family member to see who can complete course the fastest
-see how many times in a row you can complete your course
Watch the video on the left for Mrs. Jenkins' course using a basketball
I'd love to see videos/pictures of your course!

SHOUT OUT to Emma Kolodziej for being the first person to finish Specialty Olympics!!
Welcome to week three of the Specialty Olympics! This week you will explore the music you would hear at the Olympics. Every country not only has it's own flag and colors, but they have their song, called the national anthem. (An anthem is a song.) When an athlete wins a gold medal, their country's anthem is played at the award ceremony.
This week, you will learn more about our national anthem--The Star Spangled Banner. You will also listen to some of the anthems of the world.
Click on the picture to listen to the song. Try singing along until you can remember the words.

Welcome to week two of the Specialty Olympics! This week the Olympic event is all about designing. Your task is to design an original Olympic game to share with everyone. These games should be simple, but creative. Click HERE for the Game template, and click on the picture to see an example of how to create and share your game.
Your games will be shared here throughout the week, and compiled in a list that I will share with everyone on Friday.
Here are some games that people have already made, click on the name to see how it's played.

The rings of blue, black, yellow, red and green, which make up one of the most recognized symbols in the world, traditionally represent the 5 different areas of the world involved in the Olympics (North and South America are considered one area, along with Africa, Australia, Asia and Europe).
According to the Olympic Charter, “The Olympic symbol expresses the activity of the Olympic Movement and represents the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world at the Olympic Games.”
Remember:
The first week there will be one short activity from each specialty teacher.
For the next three weeks there will be one longer activity posted each week.
Fill in one ring for each activity you complete.
No repeating activities.
Complete 5 out of the 6 activities.
All activities need to be completed by May 22nd.
Email one of the specialty teachers when you have completed your activities.
Click on the picture to watch the video and complete the first Art Olympic activity. For this project you will need:
2 pieces of paper
Paint
1 balloon
Pencil
Crayons, colored pencils, or markers
If you don't have a balloon or paint, look at these other options for making an Earth. The Shaving cream one is my favorite.
