I am so excited for our online art festival! There are a few ways that you can get involved, and participate as we prepare.
The art festival website will open at 8:00 on May 14.
All of the art projects you have completed this year will be on display digitally for everyone to see on art festival day.
Make a video of you answering this question: "What does creativity mean to me?" and send me the video cleavitt@alpinedistrict.org
You can recreate famous art work and take a picture to add to our art auction. Post your art here before May 14. All of the art will be "auctioned off" on May 14. People will comment on pictures they want to win, and be entered into a drawing to win. Then, the picture will be sent as a postcard to them in the mail.
On Art Festival Day there will be a live drawing class at 11:00. Submit your ideas of what we should draw HERE.
On Art Festival Day there will be a bead making class available all day.
The art panel discussions will be posted on the art festival website on Art Festival Day.
Hi Students! Thanks for submitting your 3D printing projects. They are being printed now, and will be sent home in your art portfolios in a few weeks.
Friday, April 3 is national find a rainbow day! Today I challenge you to make your own rainbows. I made mine using homemade clay, and paint. You can use anything you have at home to make your rainbow. Click on the picture to watch the loom how-to video explaining how to make your own homemade clay rainbow. You can also use this clay recipe to make anything else you want.
1/2 cup Corn Starch
1 cup Baking Soda
3/4 cup water
Mix the corn starch and baking soda together in a pot. Add the water and stir until smooth. Heat the mixture on the stove until it forms one lump of clay. Let it cool for a few minutes, then knead the clay until it is smooth.
For this project you will need:
Crayons or colored pencils
An empty cereal box
Scissors
Glue
Paper
Markers (optional)
After I filmed the video I made another print, this is the picture shown on the right. Remember to use a soft stroke, no scribbling, but you can do short strokes. It's hard to make videos! So, if you have questions about what I did, let me know. Send me a picture of your prints and printing plate, and I'll share them here.
Liam and I had fun making a "how to water color without paints" video. You will need these supplies to do your water coloring project:
Markers
Tin foil
Paint brush
Water
Paper
Click on this link to learn how to draw a baby Yoda.
Take a picture of your Yoda, and email it to me (cleavitt@alpinedistrict.org)
Before you start folding, use scissors to make sure your paper is an exact square. Have an adult help you with this step.
Use only parent approved trash, or recycled materials for this art project.
Your trash monster can be big, or small. It can have arms, or tentacles. Your trash monster can be whatever your imagination helps you create. Your trash monster doesn't even have to be a monster, it can be a sculpture of whatever you would like.
If you finish a trash monster: send a picture or video of you making your monster to Miss Leavitt- cleavitt@alpinedistrict.org- to share in a video.
**Hint: This project is on the BINGO card. Don't forge to mark it off if you complete it.
As always, Art Hub for Kids is an amazing resource if you want to learn how to draw something new. As an added bonus, you might even see some of your friends as you learn.
