The Global Education Courses aim to cultivate globally minded individuals with extensive knowledge and advanced practical skills, leveraging the international exchange opportunities that HSU continues to expand. Alongside lecture-based courses focused on theoretical learning and liberal education, the program also offers group-work-based courses in which Japanese and international students collaborate on specific topics.
Education for International Students
Category (1) includes “Japanese Language” and “Japan Studies” courses exclusively for international students. Japanese Language I-VIII courses are offered in three proficiency levels: elementary, intermediate and advanced. Academic Japanese and Business Japanese are designed for advanced students.

Four “Japan Topics” courses are offered under the themes of Japanese economics, politics, society, and environment.
International Co-learning
Category (2) includes two types of “Multicultural Project” courses. In the first type of courses, Japanese and international students from a variety of cultural backgrounds learn cooperatively and work toward a final project through meaningful interaction conducted in English. Based on a selected cultural theme which varies by section, lectures introducing content are combined with activities to promote further learning through the sharing of information, ideas and perspectives. The course provides an ongoing opportunity for students to experience intercultural exchange firsthand using English as a global means of communication. The themes cover the following:

4. Images of Japan in Western Cinema
The second type is also designed for Japanese and international students to engage in collaborative activities, through communicating and interacting in Japanese, thereby deepening mutual understanding and raising awareness of contributing to the local community:
