Shopping is best done at home, so please come prepared.
Be prepared for any clothing you wear on the work site to get ruined and dirty. Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is a requirement for volunteers. Please see the following lists for required and recommended items:
COVID Vaccine Records
A negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of your arrival on program
Travel while wearing a face covering (cloth mask, 3-ply or N-95). We will provide disposable masks while on program.
Work Boots: These should be sturdy work boots or hiking boots, they must be closed-toe. Puncture-proof soles and steel toe boots are recommended (no Converse or running shoes allowed on site). If you do not have work boots, you will be asked to purchase them in Nepal before being allowed to work on site.
Mosquito protection: as we get into mosquito season, the risk of Dengue Fever in the area increases.
Bring a mosquito net for your bunk. If you do not bring one, we may require you to purchase one.
Bring light weight long pants and long sleeves to wear on site. Prepare for these items to get dirty! If Dengue case numbers rise to a sufficient level, we may ask you to wear both at all times (base, site and days off).
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Safety glasses, 3M P-100 respirators with pancake filters, ear protection, and gloves. We will provide this equipment, but we encourage volunteers to bring their own when possible.
Work clothes. We provide short sleeved work shirts but you should bring pants/shorts to work in.
Out of respect for local customs/norms and safety, work shorts must be no-shorter than knee length.
Tupperware or lunch box to transport food to the worksite/leftovers
Lots of socks (these tend to disappear in a communal living environment)
Normal clothes (for after work and days off)
Personal first aid kit, including any medication e.g. paracetamol, oral rehydration salts, anti-diarrheal, etc. (We are unable to provide any medication)
Personal cash and ATM/Credit Card
Battery packs for additional cell phone charging
Long sleeve t-shirt(s) - these are required on days that we pour concrete
Waterproof rain jacket
Bedding - a twin size blow up mattress, sheets, pillows, blankets or a sleeping bag
Personal items, toiletries, towel
Shower shoes/flip flops - highly recommend as shoes aren't allowed in the bunkhouse!
Sharpie (for marking your belongings)
Lightweight jacket or sweater
Vitamins, electrolytes, food supplements, comfort food
Earplugs and sleep mask
Unlocked cell phone
Water bottle
Sun hat
