Our Hurricane Helene Relief program is located about 30 minutes outside of Asheville, in Western North Carolina. This area is known for access to a variety of outdoor activities, such as hikes, zip lines, rafting, and more. Here is known as the state's "mountain region," which includes the famous Appalachian mountains and Great Smokey Mountain National Park, and is the historic homeland of the Cherokee. The federally recognized Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians also has a reserve in this region known as "Qualla Boundary."

Winter (November) the average day will brings very cold temps, with average highs in the mid 50s°F (10°C), dropping to the 30's°F (1°C). You can also expect some rain. A variety of clothing should be brought. Prepare to dress in layers. Expect cold mornings and evenings. Good to have a mixture of long sleeves, sweaters, jackets and rain jackets.

Western North Carolina is a beautiful area with many things to offer you on days off or breaks.
Enjoy our base! You won't need to go far to find things to do on your day off. From a lovely walking trail, to a gym, sports courts and a cute coffee shop. There is plenty to do right in our own backyard!
This area is perfect for the outdoor lover. You can spend time hiking and exploring the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, local adventure park, kayaking and more!
Asheville is a community with heart. Spend time exploring local farmers markets, museums, restaurants, wineries and breweries such as Highland Brewing Co. and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co in the area. Asheville is also home to "America's Largest Home," Biltmore Estate.
Other lovely towns, such as the nearby Waynesville, Hot Springs, Cherokee and Maggie Valley are great places to enjoy a day off with a lot of nice spaces, shops and hiking areas.
