Shopping is best done at home, so please come prepared. However, should you forget something we do have local access to Walmart and Dollar General. We highly suggest you frequently revisit the packing list . We will update information monthly to ensure you are best prepared.
We provide a daily work shirt for all volunteers to wear on the worksite, but please bring long pants or work shorts. If you prefer to wear a long-sleeved undershirt for protection, please bring that as well. Be prepared for any clothing you wear on the work site to get ruined and dirty. Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is a requirement for volunteers. Please see the following lists for required and recommended items:
Work boots - mandatory when working on site. Preferably, these should be sturdy construction work boots. Puncture-proof soles and steel-toe boots are recommended. Sturdy hiking boots are acceptable, but not preferred.
Photo ID/ Passport
Preferred sleeping items, including sheets, pillow, pillow case, sleeping bag, etc. The current sleeping situation is bunkbeds, where mattresses are provided for all volunteers. We may have spare bedding, but this is not guaranteed. It is highly suggested that you bring your own warm bedding as nights get cold or check with the Volunteer Relations Coordinator prior to arrival.

Warmer items, and layers - Cold winter temps are upon us with average highs in mid 50's°F (10°C), dropping to the low 30's °F (1°C) and requiring a variety of warm clothing be brought. Prepare to dress in layers. Expect cold mornings, possibility warmer afternoons. Good to have a mixture of long sleeves, sweaters and rain jackets.
Battery pack- keep in mind that power strips or power outlets may not be available near your sleeping space
Waterproof rain jacket and/or umbrella
Rain boots, or shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (such as: safety glasses, 3M P-100 respirators with pancake filters, ear protection, and gloves.) We will provide this equipment, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own if they prefer
Work clothes. We provide short-sleeved work shirts but you should bring pants/knee-length shorts to work in
Personal cash and ATM/credit card. Cards are widely accepted almost everywhere
Unlocked cell phone
Personal reusable water bottle
Lots of socks (these tend to disappear in a communal living environment)
Normal clothes (for after work and days off)
Personal first aid kit, including any medication e.g. paracetamol, oral rehydration salts, anti-diarrheal, etc. (We are unable to provide any medication)
Personal items, toiletries, towel
Shower shoes/flip flops (shoes for after work)
Sharpie (for marking your belongings)
Bug spray
Sunglasses
Vitamins, electrolytes, food supplements, comfort food
Earplugs and sleep mask
Sun hat
Sunscreen
