Transitioning to Post-Secondary Schooling

What if my child with a 504 or service plan is planning to attend college? Can my child still get services in post-secondary schooling?

Since an IEP (or ISP) and 504 are considered k-12 documents, they do not directly carry over to post-secondary schooling. Yet, these schools are required to provide neccesary accommodations to ensure students with disabilities receive the same quality of education and are not discriminated against.

For information, please visit the following website:

If your child is planning to go to a post-secondary school in the quad city area, Alleman is more than happy to sit down with you, your child, and representatives from the chosen college for a "transition meeting" to discuss what has helped the student be successful at Alleman and what types of accommodations the college would be able to offer the child going forward.

Alleman will also make sure copies of all needed documents are given to the student to give to his/her chosen college so that they can do their best to meet the student's needs.
