CASEL supports educators and policy leaders and enhances the experiences and outcomes for all PreK-12 students.

AUSD is committed to developing the whole child and has elected to implement these SEL competencies within our Tiered approach.

Tier 1: Our Tier 1 approach is designed to support all students with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) supports and skills. Tier 1 services consist of videos, presentations, short assignments, and activities that will be provided appropriate to grade level. Tier 1 efforts also included monthly classroom presentations, staff emails with activities, and parent meetings/training among other resourceful and supportive measures. Tier 1 activites all connect to and build uponthe 5 CASEL core competencies of : (1) Self-Awareness; (2) Self-Management; (3) Social Awareness; (4) Relationship Skills; and (5) Responsible Decision-Making.

Tier 2 & 3: Tier 2 and Tier 3 are more intensive support systems involving small group and one-to-one services. Tiers 2 & 3 for both group and individual school counseling will continue with a brief solution-focused skill based approach.

All Tiers 1, 2 & 3 continue during the remainder of our physical separation. Students can expect to receive information via Google Classroom and/or Seesaw.
