Alisal Commentary: Meet Integration in Google Classroom.webm

Google Classroom & Meet Integration with Alisal Commentary

Preferred Method

This video is based heavily on the original video by Eric Curts, available on YouTube.

Please view this video before you use the integrated Meet available in Google Classroom. this is our preferred method as we feel it is both secure AND easiest for Teachers and Students to use. In addition the the how-to of Eric's video we also make procedural recommendations.

Using the Nickname Procedure

If you prefer not to use the Google Classroom integration, this method provides the same rejoin mitigation. However, it lacks certain procedural advantages of the Classroom Meet integration.

Google Meet: How to Start a Video Meeting

Alisal specific notes on the video above:

  1. ALWAYS create a "nickname" for your Meet if you are creating through meet.google.com.

  2. Our students have google accounts, but not emails. Don't invite them through email invitation. Our students DO HAVE Google Calendar, so they may see invitations that way, but you will have to teach students to go that way.

  3. You will copy the "join information" and paste that link into Google Classroom or Seesaw to get it to students.

  4. NEVER post a Meet link that you are going to use with student in a publicly accessible place.

  5. ALWAYS follow the Alisal Meet Best Practice document above.

Grid View In Google Meet

If you would like to have a grid view of all your attendees, click here and add the chrome extension.

PLEASE NOTE FOR STUDENT USE: The Grid view is on all the time, until manually turned off by the viewer. If you are presenting your screen to someone who has grid view turned on, they will see your screen as a tile, it will NOT automatically take over the viewer's entire screen.
