Now accepting applications for the 2024 GEMS-U Online Course through Friday, August 2, 2024!
The ALEX Team is excited to invite certified K-12 Alabama educators to apply for our upcoming Girls Engaged in Math and Science (GEMS) Online Course. This program is designed for teachers who are passionate about enhancing STEM education for girls and integrating innovative GEMS strategies into their curriculum. Each teacher participating in the online course will be asked to complete four (4) asynchronous learning modules and develop an ALEX Learning Activity.

Duration: August 19 - September 30, 2024
Format: Asynchronous online learning
Modules: Four engaging learning modules
Project: Develop an ALEX Learning Activity
Participants will:
Engage in STEM experiences: Learn strategies to actively involve girls in STEM subjects.
Develop an ALEX Learning Activity: Create one activity that includes strategies to ensure comprehensive student engagement. ALEX Learning Activities are fundamental parts of lesson plans designed to actively engage students in learning concepts or skills. Click here to view an example of an ALEX Learning Activity.

If you are interested in participating, complete the online application by Friday, August 2, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. The notification of acceptance will be emailed to applicants by Friday, August 9, 2024.
