What's the application process?

1. Form a Team: 3–10 girls in grades 2–12.

⭐ NOTE: Teams must be established prior to submitting an application to ensure space is reserved for fully prepared teams.

1. Check with Your School or District: Confirm with your principal or district office that your team can attend the GEMS Expo as a field trip if selected.

Formal board approval may happen after acceptance, but please verify that participation is possible before you apply.

1. Select or Create a Lesson: Choose an ALEX lesson or design your own STEM lesson using.
2. Teach & Create: Teach the lesson and begin a project to showcase at the Expo.
3. Apply to Attend: Complete the online application linked below. Applications are open through Friday, November 21, 2025. Check out FAQs for details. NOTE: Student projects do not need to be complete before applying.

Before You Apply: Required Acknowledgements

Before completing the GEMS Expo application, please review the following requirements carefully.
Applications will be accepted Monday, November 3 – Friday, November 21, 2025.

Teams are selected based on the information submitted in the application. To ensure space is reserved for fully prepared teams, sponsors must confirm the following before submitting:

Team Prepared:
You already have a GEMS team established and prepared to attend if selected (students and a sponsor/co-sponsor identified).
Administrative Awareness:
You have checked with your school or district administration to verify that this trip can be approved as a field trip if your team is accepted.
Formal board approval may occur after acceptance, but please confirm feasibility before applying.
Travel Coordination:
You understand that ALEX does not arrange or fund travel for teams.
Sponsors are responsible for coordinating travel arrangements through their school or district according to field-trip policies and funding procedures (e.g., school-provided transportation or fundraising if needed).
Attendance Commitment:
If accepted, your team is committed to attending the Expo on the assigned date and location.
Agreement to Terms:
You acknowledge that only accepted teams and their sponsors/co-sponsors are eligible to attend.
Sponsors of accepted teams will receive confirmation no later than Friday, December 12, 2025.

⚠️ Note: If you cannot answer “Yes” to all acknowledgements, please complete the required steps before submitting an application.
