ISTE Capstone Project

Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into History + Science + Tech

This project aims to showcase the incorporation of AI into lesson plans for both elementary and secondary grade levels.  The overarching theme is machine learning, with each example focusing on a different aspect of AI. Every lesson has been created for student engagement, and it can be used for both teacher-led and student-led environments in the classroom.

Elementary Level:
Generative AI and Animal Adaptations: This lesson leverages generative AI to enhance student learning about animal adaptations. Students will create animal models based on adaptations using Adobe Express, which incorporates generative AI tools. This activity fosters a connection between learning and creation while promoting creativity and critical thinking.

Secondary Level:
Machine Learning Exploration:  This self-paced activity, titled "What is Machine Learning?," introduces students to the fundamental concepts of machine learning in an engaging format.

Generative AI in U.S. History:  This activity utilizes generative AI in a U.S. History classroom setting. Students choose a historical event or figure and, using generative AI tools, create a song based on their selection. This approach encourages students to explore historical content in a creative and multimedia format.

The project seeks to integrate AI literacy into existing curriculum by leveraging existing AI tools and applications within the district. This fosters a fun, engaging, and creative learning environment for students while promoting their understanding of artificial intel
