SHOUA NAH LEE

Shoua Nah Lee is an outstanding student, leader and individual. She is deserving of Bartlett High School’s TRIO student award because she has all the qualities that we look for in the recipient and more. Shoua Nah has demonstrated academic excellence, community engagement and leadership within TRIO and in her community.

Shoua Nah is a senior this year and joined the TRIO program as a sophomore student. From the beginning it was evident that she was an intelligent, kind and ambitious young woman. Through her strong work ethic and effort, she is now a UA scholar and ranked fifth in her class with a 4.09 G.P.A.

Shoua Nah is a leader and serves in the TRIO program as a member of the TRIO Leadership Committee (TLC). She collaborates with her leadership peers to create engaging programming for the rest of the TRIO family to enjoy and connect with each other. As a TRIO leader, she will also be a peer mentor to new TRIO students. She is a great role model who will positively influence her mentees. In the summer of 2020, Shoua Nah was selected to represent our program at the National Student Leadership Congress (NSLC) that was supposed to be hosted in Washington DC but instead was delivered virtually. She learned about congressional procedures and fought to address important issues facing our communities today. Additionally, Shoua Nah enjoys volunteering and makes time to give back to her community. She has over 100 hours of volunteering during her high school career! She has volunteered with TRIO at Seeds of Change, Food Bank of Alaska, and she volunteers with Key Club, Chinese Club and the Multicultural club at Bartlett High School.


Shoua Nah will graduate from Bartlett high school in May 2021 and attend UAA this fall to study Psychology. Her goal is to become an adolescent therapist upon graduation. She is passionate about creating mental health awareness and helping the youth with mental health disorders. Additionally, Shoua Nah hopes to be a mental health leader within her Hmong community so she can help break stigmas and stereotypes around mental health and educate others about mental health issues.
