Program Overview
The UAF Student Support Services (SSS) program provides high-quality comprehensive advising, tutoring, financial and economic literacy, and access to resources and mentoring to bachelor's degree seeing students at UAF's Troth Yeddha' Campus. The program is reporting on the first year of a five year grant cycle (2020-2025) for two SSS grants: Classic and STEM.
The SSS Classic grant has been at UAF for over 20 years. We're excited to expand to serve 140 more students with the brand new SSS STEM grant, awarded in the past application cycle. This fall will mark the eighth year of the Emerging Scholars Academy, a summer bridge program to aid with the transition to college for eligible, incoming first-year students. Through some unique partnerships with UAF's College of Liberal Arts, SSS is able to offer students two free general education requirements--providing a supportive year long cohorted learning community.
SSS Classic Grant: first-generation and low-income, and/or disabled including disabled who are also low-income: 67%
SSS STEM Grant: first-generation and low-income, and/or disabled including disabled who are also low-income: 68%
