IARC is a community of researchers and staff who are advancing Arctic system science at the intersection between different disciplines and knowledge systems. Our team includes researchers with a background in climatology, atmospheric dynamics, oceanography, geophysics, social sciences, terrestrial and marine ecology, hydrology, communication sciences, and many other disciplines.

We strive to advance understanding of a rapidly changing Arctic through international collaboration. Our solution-oriented science, education, and outreach depend on close cooperation and knowledge co-production with Indigenous peoples, Arctic communities, as well as policy and decision makers.

Please make your supervisor and mentor(s) aware of your goals and the steps critical to achieving those goals. We want to help you be successful; as IARC Director, I want to work with others on our team to create an environment that all can thrive in – please do not hesitate to share your thoughts on how we can or need to do better in that regard.

It is our hope and expectation that your time at IARC will be intellectually stimulating, academically fulfilling, scientifically productive, and above all meaningful and enjoyable.

Welcome to the International Arctic Research Center!
—Hajo Eicken, IARC Director

One of our objectives is to support our new Faculty members and help them develop productive and satisfying collaborations with scientists at IARC and throughout the nation and the world.

We believe inclusion, diversity, and effective communication are keys to success.
