Learning Policy Institute: Strengthening Pathways into the Teaching Profession
> We provide high quality teacher preparation program designed for Alaska’s schools and students, aligned with the current research on the science of teaching and learning
> We provide on site intern supervision to all interns (twice a year for non Fairbanks or Southcentral interns and more frequently for urban interns) and remote/web-based supervision and communication throughout the school year for all interns regardless of location
> We offer distance delivered coursework for every certification pathway that allows students to complete their program from anywhere in Alaska, including the internship experience
> We offer a tuition supported 3 credit 500 level professional development course for mentor teachers working with UAF teacher interns
> We provide transcript analysis for prospective students, including a Google Form transcript submission option for people who have credits outside of the UA system (FERPA compliant process)
> We can offer a step-by-step process for reaching out to prospective students, including strategies for obtaining FERPA compliant transcripts for evaluation of complete coursework
> The UAF SOE is working with other departments and units across campus to understand "gatekeeper" courses and ways to address existing barriers
> Can collaboarate withcommunity campuses and Ilisagvik to look for ways to support students through math course and other GERs
> Organize course intensives for specific regions/cohorts
> Offer high quality professional development in culturally sustaining pedagogy (SILKAT core practices course), aligned with district priorities and initiatives
> Can offer other professional development courses that districts request
