Fertilizer

Fertilizer is one of the core materials for agriculture in any country. It enhances the production capacity to meet the desired demand. That is why the government of Bangladesh subsidize the supply of fertilizer to keep the prices of the daily food commodities under control.
Our government requires a huge amount to DAP (Diammonium Phosphate), TSP (Triple Super Phosphate) and MOP (Muriate of Potash) fertilizer from around the globe to keep the production of crop-cycle running.

AEL has been participating in the process of collection and supply of fertilizer for the government since 2021 with great reputation. The participating companies (in the govt. tender process) allow the government to bring out the best quality fertilizer in the country at an affordable rate (which is subsidized by the government) for the farmers.

In the first year of its business in the fiscal year of 2021-2022, AEL was awarded the allocation of 28% of the total government procurement amount of DAP fertilizer. The product was imported from various suppliers of Russia and China as per quality requirements or demands of the local farmers.

The successful completion of the first year in business has seen great progress in the following year where AEL has been awarded a total of 33% of the government procurement amount for DAP and TSP fertilizer. The collection process of MOP fertilizer in the same year is still in progress.

Through this AEL is trying to connect the dots of producing the most cultivated staple food of the country, the demand and supply situation in the paddy market and maintaining the consistent quality for every type of rice to ensure bringing everyday staple food closer from farm to plate.

Wheat

Bangladesh is the 10th largest wheat importing country in the world where the import value is around $128 billion (import data of 2020). Wheat was the 3rd most imported product of the country in the same year where the imports were mainly from Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Argentina and India. The import values were $409M, $295M, $264, $118 and $94M accordingly.

Akij had also been involved in wheat trading in the country since 2017. For delivering consistent quality product to the market, it has become one of the major importers of wheat within a very short time.

To ensure the supply of quality raw materials to producing flour items, AEL has also been involved in importing of wheat for its own production and for trading purpose where the most of the imports were from Australia and India.
