What do I wear to school?
Although our school does not have a uniform, we do have dress expectations.
Your clothes should cover the upper torso and undergarments at all times, regardless of the activity you're doing. (Sitting, Running, Jumping, Bending, Swimming, Stretching)
Your shoes should protect your feet regardless of of the activity your are participating in.
For PE you must change into appropriate Athletic wear. NOTE: You do NOT need to have a specific AISJ PE Kit this year. You may, but it is not required.
Middle School PE Uniform Information
Beginning this year, we are updating our Middle School PE Uniform policy. Students are required to change and wear appropriate athletic attire for all PE classes. A separate, stand-alone MS PE Kit is no longer required. Students may choose to wear the old kit if they have it from previous years or have already purchased it, but it is not mandatory.
Bring Your Own Device (DYOM)
Clearly label your child’s computer and charger with their name and school ID number
Charge your computers at home
Bring the charging cable just in case
Specs for Macbooks can be found here.
AISJ Middle School is Phone Free (Phones are not required for MS students)
Phones are to be locked in the student's lockers for the entire day.
If students need to call home, they can use the phone in the office.
If parents need to contact students - Email the student directly or called the office
Emergencies - Call the office or principal.
Misusing Cell Phones in the Middle School will result in the following:
1st time: Escort to the locker and have the student lock it in their locker
2ntd time: Turned into the office
Parent email home and student must turn the phone into the office for the remainder of the year.
3rd time: Parent email home and phone does not come to school for a week. Parent confirmation of the phone will be kept at home
Experiential Learning and Activities
Experiential Learning & Activities Coordinator
Here at AISJ, we have amazing opportunities to experience learning in a wide variety of ways. Through our after-school clubs, service opportunities, and experiential learning trips like our Classroom Without Walls, students can explore the world from different perspectives and apply our portrait of a learner in a real world setting.
If you have any questions about clubs, service opportunities, CWW, field trips, volcano group special events, or any other aspects of student life here at AISJ, please don't hesitate to contact me at the email on the left.
We look forward to having you join our MS community!
Peter Dulvy
MS PA Coordinator
Our parent organizations are an important part of the AISJ community and contribute greatly to the Middle School. We have several groups that work together to make our community run smoothly.
Additional information about the PA can be found here.
If you would like to join our Grade Level Parent WhatsApp groups you can do so by using these QR codes. Note: It is not required to join these groups but does provide helpful information.
Parents can drop off their children at the car and bus drop-off area. This area has short-term parking spaces for the purpose of quick drop-off.
There is additional parking at the front of the school or in the area above the Middle School.
If students ride the bus, they will be dropped-off and picked up in this same place. They just need to know their bus number. If they forget, they can ask anyone at the drop-off area for help.
If you have any questions regarding AISJ student transportation please contact our transportation office at jhb-transport@aisj-jhb.com
