Students who are failing 1 or more core courses (or graduation required electives), can enroll in the Fresh Start program. This will be an intensive 10-week program beginning on April 11th and ending on June 24th.
They will be removed from their current failing course and placed in a comparable ASU course which will be facilitated by an AISE teacher.
If the student is studying on campus, the withdrawn class will be replaced with a study hall to help with time management. Their teachers will have specific office hours dedicated to the ASU courses.
When the student leaves the failing course, this second attempt at the course will be recorded on the transcript as a Pass/Fail.
Here are the courses we will offer for Fresh Start:
English grades 6, 7, 8
Math grades 6, 7 (Pre-algebra), 8 (Algebra)
Science grades 6, 7, 8
Social studies grades 6, 7, 8
Final course availability will be determined by student enrollment.
Students who are required to take Summer School may enroll in our Fast Track program (up to two courses)
They will take an intensive four-week course from June 27th -July 30th and the courses will be facilitated by AISE teachers.
Here are the courses we will offer for Fast Track :
English grades 6, 7, 8
Math grades 6, 7 (Pre-algebra), 8 (Algebra)
Science grades 6, 7, 8
Social studies grades 6, 7, 8
Students must pass their courses in order to be eligible for promotion to the next grade level.
Both the Fresh Start and Fast Track (summer school) programs employ AISE teachers to facilitate the ASU curriculum. These teachers know our students. Ms. Jensen (HS Dean) and Ms. Johnston (HS Principal) will be the administrators for these programs and have been working with ASU for online cohort this past semester. ASU has a learning platform that is simple for both students and parents to navigate. Parents will be able to track their child's progress through an ASU portal. The courses are self-paced within guidelines and students are encouraged and coached to establish a time management plan which outlines all of their upcoming assignments. Partway through the program there will be a review of progress to ensure students are pacing themselves to finish on time. For students failing multiple cores, this is an opportunity not to have to repeat the grade next school year.
Arizona State University is a world class university that has partnerships with many schools and is highly experienced in developing and delivering engaging online courses. When the program starts, students will know every assignment and task due and will be able to plan their time wisely.
Course Fee for the first course will be 12,650 EGP
The Fee for each additional course will be 7,900 EGP
Students need to select courses in collaboration with their counselor and Team Leader or Assistant Principal. Once fees are paid, registration can be processed with ASU.
