Smokin' Ferrets BBQ Club/ Competiton Team

The BBQ club is meant for all culinary students that want to learn the arts of making Texas Style BBQ in this club you will learn the process and technqiues to make your own rubs, build and manage a live fire for BBQ purposes, trim and butcher brisket, pork ribs, and whole chicken, create bbq style beans and bake desserts right on the smoker!

BBQ High Docuseries Follows Teens in the Intense World of Competitive Barbecuing: ‘This Is Their Sport’ (Exclusive) BBQ High, which chronicles Texas high schoolers competing for the BBQ state title, premieres Sunday, August 18 on Magnolia Network.

2020 BBQ Club

The first-ever CTC BBQ Team, The Smoking Ferrets, had their season cut short due to COVID-19. The team is made up of seniors Jasmine, Megan, Kenya, Letzy, and junior, Cooper. This year they met at 6 am on several Saturdays to learn about rubs, smoking meat, beans, and more. These kids dedicated a great deal of time to start the club and they will always be our first. We look forward to the graduates coming back to mentor the next generation and for Cooper to anchor the team next year. Chef Almendarez, Chef Chavoya, and Mrs. Monroe celebrated the team yesterday with their uniform, Franklin BBQ book and BBQ themed cookies (from Chef A), and additional senior treats for the girls.
