PS4200 - 2 credits (double blocked)
This course is for the student who wants to pursue a career in education. Students will study child and adolescent development as well as principles of effective teaching and training. In this first year course, students will participate as unpaid interns at AISD elementary schools under the supervision of their CTC teacher and mentor at the field site. They will learn about effective teaching practices and to evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of lesson plans and instructional strategies. Students who wish to take this course must have their own transportation in order to travel to their site(s) or be willing to walk to a nearby training site campus. Uniform purchase is required. Upon successful completion of specific criteria in this course, seniors will be given the opportunity to earn a "Letter of Intent" from the Arlington ISD which provides the opportunity for future employment with the district.
