Andover High School Music Department Philosophy

The Andover High School Music Department is committed to creating an environment that fosters creativity, builds strong musical skills, and supports both personal and social growth. Through diverse musical experiences, students are challenged to explore and perform works from a wide range of styles, cultures, and traditions. In doing so, they develop not only technical proficiency and artistic interpretation, but also a deeper understanding and appreciation of music’s role in the world.

While the continual development of musical ability is central to our mission, we recognize that the benefits of music education extend far beyond performances. Our program provides students with opportunities to cultivate responsibility, self-confidence, teamwork, camaraderie, and a sense of pride in both individual and group achievements.
