Each year, all of our visual arts teachers nominate and vote for one senior as Artist of the Year. This award is based on individual works, portfolios, and supplemental material representing outstanding achievement in the visual arts.
My ceramic portfolio consists of six vases embodying different aspects of the ocean's multifaceted beauty. Each piece is a testament to the inspirations drawn from the oceanic realm, reflecting its dynamic nature. The rhythm and flow of tides, delicate intricacies of seashells, and diverse formation of coral are captured and represented through my pieces. I shaped my vases to appear fluid-like, as if they belonged under the water, and I incorporated glazes ranging from multiple shades of blues and greens, mirroring the spectrum of colors found beneath the sea. Through this portfolio, I aim to communicate a connection between nature and art. I invite viewers to take the form, color, and texture of my pieces into their own interpretation, reflecting on what each aspect represents to them in our interconnected world.
Each year, one non-senior student is also selected as the Rising Star of our Visual Arts program.
This award recognizes a student who shows great promise in the visual arts.
