I’ve always found the realm between dream and reality fascinating. My painting “Heartless” is a representation of a dream I had. I did not imagine the image itself, but rather a picture of me painting the portrait of me holding my heart. I wanted the white, lacy background to juxtapose the image, allowing the reader to find the feminist in the gory art piece. “Spoonbills” and “Beta” are paintings that incorporate light and a sense of serenity. I enjoy creating artworks that incorporate elements from real life and give the viewer a pleasing visual of nature and our environment.
My current three works are new studies that I began in my second semester of senior year. Throughout my high school career, I often stayed comfortable while in art class and created pieces that I was used to. My last couple months in room 3131 I wanted to explore my creativity and try something new. My thematic series involves bright, vibrant colors with different patterns to create pleasing abstract pieces. I incorporated what I love to paint, elements from nature, into the pieces to connect not just the three, but all of my bodies of work.
