Media: Oil Painting, Drawing, Collage, Mixed Media
My dad was diagnosed with cancer when I was 12 years old. During this time I felt that as my dad was fighting off the chemicals and destruction of his body, I was battling alongside him, trying to piece together what was happening to my dad. This drove me to my ultimate question: What was wrong with my dad?
Each piece is the result of constant practice, experimentation, and revision. This is evident through the use of multiple mediums in order to convey my ideas, feelings, and thought process. I was unable to find myself attached to one medium or one style as I felt it couldn't accurately portray the storm of contradicting emotions I felt during these troubling times. Although at times the experimentation did not work as well as I'd like, I was able to make the most of it and I feel that the failures also assisted me in telling the story of my discovery.
