"Home"
What does home mean? Home to me is where my family lives and loves. Where we are able to connect and spend time with each other. Over the last year with everyone being home 24/7 due to COVID-19 we have become closer as a family. This time together has allowed me to appreciate and cherish the small moments we have together. It was important for the photos to be candid because it gave a raw image of my home life. As seen in the photo of my mom working in her office or my dad at his computer there is a certain stillness and peacefulness about them. As a small family there are often times throughout the day when you would be able to hear pin drop.
Also, as I am leaving in the fall for university this is my last opportunity to really see everyone doing their daily routine. Being able to be the photographer capturing these images compared to a stranger has allowed me to create a deeper connection and go unnoticed when shooting. I chose a variety of photographs that demonstrated the trust between my family and I. I believe the photos where my family acknowledges the camera strengthen the idea that the photos were taken from the perspective of another family member. The viewer is able to see the connection I have with my family through my eyes.
