Artist Statement

Being born in the U.S. but raised in Turkey, I often find myself straddling two cultures, feeling truly at home in neither. My work is guided by the question "How do I, as a Third Culture Kid, navigate the complexities of holding on to my Turkish identity while coming of age in the U.S.?" I explore this question through figurative painting, textiles, digital art, and collage. My portfolio begins with looking back on my past in Turkey, then transitions into adapting to my American life and finally taking on an activist position.
