Artist Statement

My work investigates the complexities of relationships and how people bring out different emotions in me. Until recently, I struggled to find a community I trusted. Now that I have one, I can reflect on the positive and negative effects friendships had on my life. I explore the question, "How have relationships affected the development of my identity?" through drawing, photography, painting and digital art. Divisions of color map out emotions associated with positive relationships, while unusual plants and animals disguise the identities of people who had a negative impact on me.
