Morning or Early Evening Tours: Thematic Heritage Walks within the Old City of Ahmedabad, a UNESCO World Heritage Property

• From Temple to Mosque: A heritage walk in old city of Ahmedabad developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
• Food Walk: A walk led by students of Masters in Heritage Management at Ahmedabad University, highlighting culinary traditions in Ahmedabad within the old city (includes some tasting opportunities)
• Walled city through the years: The old city of Ahmedabad has many stories veiled within its historic monuments. Walking through the different structures will help us identify the mark of different periods that includes Gujarat Sultanate, Mughals, Colonial era and the post-independent time. The narrow lanes, busy markets, various communities that exist along with it, will give us an insight into the rich diversity that the city has witnessed and sustained over the years. Come and let’s unravel the multiple layers hidden in the boundaries of the walled city.

Explore Sarkhej Roza (A late afternoon – early evening visit).

Morning walks conclude with a traditional local breakfast, and evening walks conclude with an option for having dinner at the open food market of Manek Chowk.

Registrations are required to participate in these walks. Contribution for morning heritage walk (Rs. 500, breakfast included), contribution for evening heritage walk: Rs. 400 (dinner not included)

• Shaan-e-Ahmed: Historic City Core Tour: a walk led by students of Masters in Heritage Management at Ahmedabad University around key monuments and public spaces at the historic city core
• From Temple to Mosque: A heritage walk in old city of Ahmedabad developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
• Food Walk: A walk led by students of Masters in Heritage Management at Ahmedabad University, highlighting culinary traditions in Ahmedabad within the old city (includes some tasting opportunities)
• Unknown to Known: The heritage city of Ahmedabad includes many structures which have many stories associated with it. While some of the stories have translated well into the historic fabric of the city while others have been completely forgotten. Through this walk, we aim to discover some of such stories and start conversations about our heritage which has gone unremembered.

Archaeological Site 1: Lothal (78 kms from Ahmedabad)

Archaeological Site 2: Dholavira (370 kms from Ahmedabad)

Itinerary

Day 1: Travel from Ahmedabad to Lothal. Explore Lothal site and leave for Dholavira post lunch. Overnight stay at Dholavira Tourism Resort

Day 2: Explore Dholavira site and leave for Ahmedabad
