Association Strategic Objectives

First Objective: Encourage corporate or individual membership in the Association.

Second Objective: Establish effective mechanisms for communication with Arab researchers working in the field of genetics.

Third Objective: Support and strengthen means of cooperation and exchange among genetics scientists in order to work on joint activities (research projects, symposiums, conferences, seminars, training and education).

Fourth Objective: Provide financial sustainability for the Association to support its activities by attracting endowments, grants, donations, gifts and member subscription fees.

Fifth Objective: Provide research expertise and training opportunities in the field of genetics in health and disease.

This strategy is based on several aspects which shall provide for stronger affiliation among the building blocks of Arab research in the field of genetics, support and development of scientific and technical research in the Arab World to attain stability of the Arab nation, increasing its scientific efficacy and developing its capacity to innovate and create in order to harness available resources for the benefit of the nation and its development. It should be noted that the aspired medium and long term objective is to work on joint scientific research at a distinguished level that has clear reflections on health.

The following main points summarize the means to achieving the strategy:

• Coordination and exchange of expertise among Arab scientific institutions.
• Strengthening scientific research and guiding applicable research in genetics.
• Development of and bridging gaps in coordination in order to carry out joint Arab research work, while working to support national scientific and technological research in material and human resources.
• Documenting information related to Arab scientific research and encouraging the exchange of such information and bridging the gap between Arab countries in terms of knowledge, technology and information.
• Maximising the use of information and communication technology in joint Arab research work.
• Increasing the use of natural and human resources in Arab counties and improving the quality and efficiency of the Arab scientific research system in order to serve the hoped-for development in all Arab countries.
• Promoting scientific media and encouraging it to focus on scientific research and technological development in all Arab nations.
• Cooperation with Arab and non-Arab scientific and technological organisations, unions and institutions with common interests.
• Ensure the promotion of partnerships among institutions working in scientific research and the private sector on the national and Arab levels.
• Ensure that the Arabic language is the official language for lecturing and conducting research in higher education institutions and research centres in all Arab countries.
• Formalising a follow up and assessment methodology and using results in developing means for field application of scientific research.
