Internal Medicine Resources

The Intern At Work podcast was started by a group of McMaster Internal Medicine residents and is aimed at educating junior trainees on topic relevant to internal medicine and its subspecialties. All the materials are usually co-produced or reviewed by faculty members or subspecialty fellows.

In addition to their podcast, they also make some accompanying infographics which are pretty awesome.

The Curbsiders Internal Medicine Podcast is a very popular American podcast. It is targeted at more senior trainees (residents and fellows) and practicing physicians. If you are planning to use this for junior trainees, you should curate and pick out episodes that work best for your rotation.

They have an EXTENSIVE number of podcasts (see their episode list here).

All episodes are formatted into digital Show Notes, which include references and specific time stamps. See example here.

RheumTutor.com was developed by Dr. Raj Carmona, a rheumatologist at McMaster University. The website includes summaries of important rheumatologic diseases, an overview of common investigations, medications used to treat rheumatologic diseases, and some excellent videos on MSK physical examination and injection techniques.

The Stanford Medicine 25 website provides an overview of 25 important aspects of physical examination. Each topic is presented with a differential diagnosis and a suggested general approach to the examination with accompanying video demonstrations.

Virtual Resus Room (VRR)

Created by Dr. Sarah Foohey, this low-cost innovation allows educators to teach simulation resuscitation cases virtually by layering together both a collaborative document and your choice of video conferencing software (although Zoom is recommended). This site has templates for various cases (via Google Slides) and also case templates for simulation educators.
