We have three exciting projects in development at Westerings. We hope each will come to fruition, but as with all exciting plans, sometimes there are insurmountable obstacles (e.g. funding, planning) which may delay or derail these... First and foremost, is our ambition to make Westerings the most engaging, inspirational and enjoyable school to attend in the area. Our continued journey (with developments like new playgrounds, wildlife walks, Adventure Golf courses, classroom corridor upgrades etc.) has taken the school from strength to strength. We're excited by what the future holds!
PROJECT 1
EYFS Entrance corridor
What: An exciting new corridor, themed to match one of our more exciting EYFS topics/themes. Walking into EYFS, everyone will know they're entering an exciting learning zone!
Where: Yr1/YrR corridor
Why: To complete our school corridor project, EYFS is our final stop! Furthermore, the installation of a new walk-in storage area for EYFS will enable us to create a more exciting entrance to the EYFS area.
When: October Half-Term 2023
How: Internal resourcing (AS/ID)
PROJECT COMPLETE!
PROJECT 2
Reading Retreat & New Staff Productivity Area
What: Rebrand of our library, refresh of books, furniture and layout to create a new focal point in the centre of our school, with a clear focus on reading! Furthermore, a change of use from our teacher resource room to a new staff room.
Where: Curent Library, resource room and staff rooms.
Why: Reading is FUNdamental! Our library is great, but is in need of some TLC after being in its current format for ten years. A refresh and rebrand will ensure it's the heart of our school for another ten years.
With 50 staff now working at WPA, our current staffroom only seats six staff to eat at lunchtimes... to improve staff wellbeing, we're making big changes!
When: Winter 2023
How: New furniture, relocation of some rooms, painting and decorating. WPSA support.

'Project BMXtinction'
What: A jurassic themed BMX track, in the depths of the Westerings' forest!
Where: Westerly lower woodland area (near Imagination Cove).
Why: Exercise, creativitiy, pushing the limits, unusually brave - all great reasons to get children using their biking skills in a fun and exciting way!
When: By Spring 2024
How: £5000 injection of funds from WPSA, parent support.
