When this is EXTENDING the leader contributes to the professional development of a range of colleagues both inside and out of the performance management system. Is able to make an accurate assessment of an individual’s capabilities and development needs. Creates a broad range of challenging and relevant assignments/ developmental opportunities for individuals so that they can demonstrate enhanced and effective practice. Takes accountability for investing in future leaders. Thinks creatively about who has talent, including use of stakeholder feedback, and what they need to develop. Orchestrates cross-functional and outreach assignments to provide specific support. Manages resources within the organisation/ creates and supports networks outside of the organisation to support individuals’ growth and development.

When this is ESTABLISHED the leader leads a team that manages talent within the team/ organisation. Provides coaching and development opportunities, including skills audits/ 360 assessment/ performance reviews to nurture that talent and prepare individuals for future positions.

When this is DEVELOPING the leader is part of a team that manages talent within the team/ organisation. Supports coaching and development opportunities, including skills audits/ 360 assessment/ performance reviews to nurture that talent and prepare individuals for future positions.

When this is BASIC the leader plans for succession within the team/ organisation. Provides training to prepare individuals for the next job/ role/ position.
