To ensure we are meeting every child's entitlement to acquire the most powerful knowledge of science, we are setting out with precision the knowledge that pupils should be taught as core content in their curriculum. This forms our AET Science Specification.
Every AET school should ensure that this knowledge is taught as part of their science curriculum, though the sequence and choice of additional content remains a local decision.
We currently have an AET Science Specification for Year 1 and 2: the science subject network are currently developing Year 3 ready for launch from Sep 2024.
Our recommended primary science curriculum is Science Mastery, created by Ark Curriculum Plus and published by Oxford University Press.
Science Mastery is an easy-to-implement programme that meets all aims of the National Curriculum and is designed to support all educators, regardless of subject-specialism. With full teacher slides and unit planning as well as workbooks for pupils, this scheme offers a knowledge-rich and ambitious approach to the science discpline.
The links below connect to the legacy AET Science Curriculum materials, created in 2018, which provide units of work and teaching resources for all aspects of the National Curriculum. Whilst this is no longer our recommended curriculum programme, some schools are still using aspects of this programme.
The subject network are working on creating a set of multiple choice questions to support the AET specification content.
The network will also develop a system of trust-wide assessment to help assess the extent to which children have acquired the powerful knowledge of the AET specification - more details later this year!
