Admissions & Enrollment (Heading)

Welcome to the Professor Armando de Lucena School Cluster. We are committed to making the transition to our school as smooth as possible for international students and their families.

1. The Enrollment Process (Step-by-Step)

In Portugal, the enrollment process for public schools is centralized. Here is how it works:

1. Online Application: All applications are submitted through the Portal das Matrículas. You will need a Portuguese tax ID (NIF) or a Citizen Card to login.

2. School Selection: When applying, you can select up to 5 schools in order of preference. Use our school code (171499) to find us easily.

3. Placement Results: Results are usually published between July and August on the same portal.

4. Confirmation: Once placed, our administrative office will contact you to finalize the registration and collect any pending physical documents.

2. Required Documentation

To ensure a successful application, please prepare the following documents (scanned for the online portal):

• Identification

• ID Card or Passport of the student and the legal guardian

• Tax ID (NIF)

• The Portuguese Tax Identification Number

• Medical Records

• An updated Portuguese Vaccination Bulletin (Boletim de Vacinas)

• Proof of Residence

• A utility bill or a document from the local "Junta de Freguesia"

• Transcript/Report Cards

• Academic records from the previous school (translated if necessary).

3. Students from Foreign Systems (Equivalences)

If your child is coming from an international school system, we need to determine the equivalent grade level in Portugal.

• Recognition of Studies: You must provide officially translated and authenticated transcripts.

• PLNM Support: We offer Portuguese as a Non-Native Language (PLNM) support classes to help students integrate and master the language while following the regular curriculum.
