Your PVT is about so much more than just seeing your Racer. It is about your own journey and what God is writing into your story. You'll be doing ministry/mission work with your Racer. You'll be letting God stir your heart for the needs of the world. Your mission trip (i.e., your PVT) is part of being the hands and feet of Jesus to the nations. Therefore, asking others to help you get there should be viewed the way any other mission trip is. This is not a vacation in plush surroundings!
It works similarly to your Racer's fundraising. As part of your trip dashboard you'll be given a fundraising link. You can find more information there.
While we appreciate your desire to use a wide variety of fundraising tools, you may not raise funds for your PVT through a third party fundraising site. The reason for this is to make sure you receive the correct amount of funds. These third parties do not provide Adventures with the documentation we need to accurately allocate the funds. Funds received this way will not be applied to your fundraising goal. They will be applied to the Adventures General Fund regardless of any documentation you may have.
This does not mean you can't use Facebook to promote your needs. It just means you can't use their fundraising platform. Facebook can be very helpful in alerting friends to your mission trip - just provide the direct link to your fundraising account as part of the post.
If your Racer has exceeded their fundraising goal, we are not able to transfer those funds to your PVT account. This policy is set to make sure we fully comply with IRS regulations and ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability) guidelines.
The following statement should be used on all relevant donation and fundraising materials: Adventures In Missions, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a long-time member of ECFA. Tax-deductible contributions must be irrevocable; therefore, all donations are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Donations received as a result of your fundraising activities are accumulated in a fundraising summary that is visible on your trip profile. You will be able to track donations and progress toward your goal. However, all funds donated on your behalf are used by Adventures at Adventures discretion to further fund the ministries of Adventures. The funds you raise will be pooled with the funds raised by other participants and used to offset the expenses involved in your trip. At no point will Adventures allow you to direct the use of funds you have raised. Consequently, you should not expect that you might exercise any rights to or control over any funds or amounts reflected in your fundraising summary.
