Lola Maria, an 80-year-old woman who once worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She spent her youth taking care of her children, ensuring they had food on the table and access to education. Now, in her golden years, she finds herself alone, making difficult choices between food and medication. She walks miles to the nearest health center because she can’t afford transportation, and she stretches every peso of her pension, hoping it will be enough to last the month.
But should the golden years of life be filled with struggle? "The Golden Years" should represent a time of comfort, dignity, and care—a period where elders enjoy the fruits of their lifelong labor, not endure continued hardships. Yet, for many, these years are marked by financial difficulty, lack of access to healthcare, and inadequate support. This pressing reality calls for action, and that is what this project aims to address.
