When the Pullman Company slashed factory workers' wages in the summer of 1894, thousands of railroad workers went on strike and refused to run trains, including Pullman cars. The strike divided the nation. In this lesson, you will read parallel accounts from two opposing Chicago newspapers. You will read each newspaper closely to identify the key phrases that demonstrate each paper’s position on the strike.
