3/5th Compromise

1. Watch the video to the left and take notes on a sheet of Cornell note paper. You will need to fill at least 1 sheet of Cornell notes front and back INCLUDING THE SUMMARY!

How did the North and South differ on their view of slavery?
When was the international slave trade eliminated? Did this solve the problem of slaver?
What replaced the international slave trade?
How is representation counted in the House of Representatives based on the Great Compromise? Did this compromise take into account slaves?
What is the 3/5th Compromise? Explain how it works and who it benefits.

2. Using the 3/5th Compromise formulas packet, calculate the representation for each state based on the Southern States Plan, the Northern States Plan and the 3/5th Compromise. Finally, decide which plan the state prefers. If the representation is equal, take into account their location (Northern State vs Southern State) and their population compared to the largest state. You may have to ask yourself if they would benefit form slavery.
