Injury/Sick Day Report
If you cannot participate in PE for whatever reason, whether you are sick, injured, visiting a teacher, or counselor, you are REQUIRED to write a 2 page report about anything sports/health related. You MUST look for an article online, a newspaper story, a magazine story, etc and write a report on that story. You MUST write the title of the story, the name of the newspaper/magazine/website you got the story from and write about the article (if you wish to print or cut up the article, you’re more than welcomed too). Tell me what the article is about, your opinion on the article, and what you have learned from the article. You must turn in this article the next time you see me in PE.
You MUST bring it to me. Even if I don’t ask for it. If I don’t have it in my hands the day it is due, you will get a zero for that PE day you missed. If I am absent that day that it is due, you still must bring it to me the next time I am there in PE.
This is not a “turn it in and you automatically pass,” paper. I will check for spelling, grammar, etc. Whatever you turn in is the grade you deserve.

Listen quietly at the beginning of class and anytime instructions are given for an activity.
If a drill or an activity starts and the student is not aware of what they are supposed to do, it will lower their grade.
When the whistle is blown or I start clapping, I want your attention. The faster I get your attention, the faster we can do our activity.

Soreness is common in the beginning, especially if you are not an active person or if it is an exercise you have never done.
The soreness will go away after a few classes only if you keep up with your exercises.
Easy Mode –
I will teach the exercise and teach you variations just so that you may prepare for the fitness test later. Don’t try to keep up with the other students who are used to the exercises.
When you start exercising for the year you will feel soreness the next day but you will not feel like that every day if you keep up with the exercises.
Benefits of exercise
Helps to maintain your weight –not too thin or overweight
Strengthens muscles and gives definition.

Substitutions –
Due to the size of our court and field, the entire class may not play at the same time. Therefore, team captains will have to pick substitutes.
Substitutes will sit on the sidelines until the coach calls for a switch. At this point all subs on the sidelines must come in and the same amount of players must come out.
Substitutes must pay attention to the sport and how their team is doing during the game.
Referee –
The teacher will referee the game and will be the final word on a call.
Students will have to accept the final decision on a debated call or missed call.
Be respectful of yourself, other students, and the teacher.

Line drills will be used to raise your grade back up when a student has not done what he/she is supposed to be doing in class.
Line drills are not mandatory; a student can choose not to do them. However, choosing not to do the line drill will require the teacher to report the situation to the parents and administration.
If there are any disturbances in class and no one accepts the responsibility, then the
whole class is added with additional laps which take away from the sporting activity.
P.E. Uniform shirts must be worn at all times. Students will need to arrive at PE wearing their PE uniforms. They will not be allowed to change into their PE uniforms during class. Please have your parents bring a doctor’s note.
They must be solid school colors and only black or dark lenses allowed.

Make sure that you do not have any pens, pencils or other objects in your pockets during PE to avoid injury. If you have your electronics in your pocket in PE, I can ask for it and hold it until the end of the day. Aside from medical reasons, there is no reason why you should have a phone in your pocket in PE. NONE
Unless it is cold outside or we are indoors, there is absolutely no reason you should wear a sweater during PE. IF you wear a sweater, you must take it off. If there is a medical reason why you have to keep the sweater on, I need to see the doctor's note. You’ll sit down and not play. IF there’s nothing wrong and you refuse to take off the sweater, automatic zero. Non negotiable
If anyone does not have a uniform underneath the sweater, it is a uniform violation and you be reported to the office. If you continue to do it, a detention and referral may be issued.
The teacher is NOT responsible for lost items and may not hold any items for the students.

It will also lower your grade.

Failure to do this may result in dehydration or exhaustion that may lead to other medical emergencies.
Avoid Caffeine and sport energy drinks before school or PE class.
In general, you should avoid them all together. If you drink an energy drink before class, it can lead to heart problems among other things.
There is no eating in the classroom or outdoors during class time.
It will lower your grade. (even if you pass by a lunch group on the way to drink water)

2) If you are wearing your PE Uniforms during days that you don’t wear PE, it is a violation. Wear the appropriate clothing on the specific day.
NOTE: You and your parents know the school uniform requirements. Some of you have been at Academir for years. Don’t tell me you didn’t know. Also don’t tell me you can’t afford it when most of you walk around close to hundred dollar backpacks, shoes, makeup, and technology and talk about the latest 70 dollar video game you guys play.
Sweaters - Unless the day is cold, they are not allowed to be worn during P.E. They must be off. If you’re only wearing your sweater and have no shirts underneath, you will not be allowed to participate, you can receive an automatic F for the day and you will be subjected to a uniform violation that could lead to a detention or worse.

Chronic Injuries or Conditions (Asthma) must be reported to the Coach and the office ASAP. You must bring a doctor's note stating your medical condition. You do not have to do this during class. You can tell your teacher in private or anybody in administration.
Make sure you have whatever medication or equipment needed for your condition out in the field.
Students with Asthma MUST have their inhaler during class. IF not, they will receive a failing grade.
If you feel sick during class. Do not force yourself to do exercise or the activities fearing that your grade will be lowered. Inform the teacher that you are feeling ill and you will be sent to the office to call home. You must call home if you are too sick to participate in class.

I need a note to allow you back in class.
If you need to see the counselor or nurse, you must come up to me and I will ask if she can see you. If she can, I will be more than willing to send you. If she says no, you cannot leave.
If you go see the nurse or counselor when you are supposed to be with me and I am not notified, I will automatically give you an 2 F’s for the day and report it.
