Fall 2018

This fall has been a busy time in the library--we've had lots of fun. We've had:

  • The Librarian attended BCS STEAM conference this summer and NCSLMA conference in early October.
  • Featured on WLOS on the first day of school
  • Began a Morning News program that we've named WHFE STEAM news.
  • Lots and lots of classes in the Makerspace and library. Some on Plagarism and Citation, some Breakout EDUs.
  • Battle of the Books began in September and will continue until our competition in April.
  • Led five Level-up Sessions on Research with teachers
  • Co-taught six lessons in classrooms with teachers on Research skills in 4th grade and 1st grade.

Used the Greenscreen studio to take over 100 back-to-school pictures

Scholastic Book Fair

Led Goosechase scavenger hunts with first grade to practice and learn about directions and the compass

Co-taught in a 1st grade classroom on research skills

4th Grade Research Lessons

Began morning news, WHFE STEAM news, which aired daily through December

Through a small business Saturday gift from Spellbound Books, all 5th grade students got a copy of the book Ghost by Jason Reynolds. We connected with Oakley Elementary's 5th grade who also all got the book.
