We have a lot of exciting events coming in the next week!
Next week is the Scholastic Book Fair (5/31-6/3)
Thursday June 2nd we will have a Promotion Ceremony in the classroom. All families are welcome into our classroom! We will begin at 10:30 and have a picnic/lunch around 11:30 on the playground. Here is the sign-up if you are able to bring snacks!

This week we watched a video series on GoNoodle called the Mooderators. We talked about different feelings we all experience and what we do when we are having those feelings.
This week we read the famous fairy tale Cinderella. We read 4 different versions from around the world and found similarities and differences between them all.
France- Cinderella
Egypt- The King and the Sandal
Ireland- Billy Beg and his Bull
Russia- Cinderella on Stage
We were able to notice cultural differences and how the setting changed in each story. We also learned that you can tell a story without words, using movement and music. We watched a clip of the ballet Cinderella and shared what we thought was happening.
This week we continued our final Fundations unit of the year!
In Unit 12 students will learn to read and write 2 syllable words- bringing together all their knowledge of spelling patterns and syllable types.
Example: napkin, cactus, limit
Word of the Day:
excuse
Trick Words of the Week:

This week we did a lot of creative writing. We also spent time working on a Memory Book. This book is full of details about our school year. Not only is this a great memento, it helps students bookend the year by reflecting on all the moments we have shared as a class family. These kiddos are so ready for 2nd grade!
