UPDATE - Mr. Thomas will be the point of contact for all families during Adventure Jordan.

Adventure Jordan is an important part of the Middle School learning experience at ACS, and all students are expected to attend. These trips provide valuable opportunities for relationship building and hands-on learning that cannot be recreated in the classroom. Students who do not attend often find it difficult because they miss out on these shared experiences.
If your child will not be attending, please inform Serena McMahon (MS Assistant Principal) at smcmahon@acsamman.edu.jo.
Please note:
Students who do not attend will be marked absent according to school attendance policies.
There will be no programs or supervision on campus during Adventure Jordan.
As part of our Adventure Jordan program, we will be aligning with the Middle School’s no phone policy.
Children will hand in their phones to their chaperone when they get on the bus on the first day of their trip and the phones will be returned when they get back to school at the end of the trip. This ensures that families can communicate about transport Thursday afternoon.
These trips are intentionally designed to help students step away from daily distractions and fully engage in the unique experiences around them. By setting aside their phones, students will have greater opportunities to build meaningful relationships with their peers, strengthen their independence, and deepen their appreciation for our host country. We believe this approach will make the learning, growth, and memories from these adventures even more impactful.
Please know that your child’s safety is always our highest priority. If there are ever any concerns, you will be informed immediately. In addition, Billy Thomas will be available 24/7 to take your call should there be a family emergency and you need to connect with your child. This way, students can focus on the adventure, while families can feel confident that communication and care remain firmly in place.

Adventure Jordan is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about, and appreciate, the richness of our host country. Along with these unique experiences comes the responsibility to be mindful of cultural differences. Students are expected to acknowledge and respect the traditions and sensitivities of the local communities we visit, even when they may be different from what we are used to at school or in our own neighborhoods. This respect ensures meaningful connections and a positive experience for both our students and our hosts.
Similar to normal school days, during Adventure Jordan middle school children will be required to adhere to the MS Expectations:
We take care of ourselves
We take care of each other
We take care of the space
During Adventure Jordan this could look like:
Take personal responsibility for your actions
Be only where you are supposed to be at all times
Tell the truth and be trustworthy
Fulfill all commitments and responsibilities
Show sound judgment
Seek assistance from a trusted adult when difficulties arise
Help build a community where all members can rely on one another
Not engage in spreading hurtful or unsubstantiated rumors
Avoid all physical, social, or emotional harassment of any member of the community
Not using vulgar, obscene or profane gestures or words
Seek assistance from a trusted adult when difficulties arise
Students take pride in keeping their tents/cabins clean, neat, and free of litter
Not being careless with property and/or materials
Not causing, or attempting to cause, damage to camp or personal property
Follow all safety guidelines set by the campsite
When minor misbehavior interrupts the experience of others or shows disrespect, students will first receive a verbal warning. If the behavior continues or becomes more frequent or severe, additional disciplinary steps will follow. These may include
a conversation with trip leaders
a reduction of privileges
communication with Mr. Thomas
or parents being contacted and asked to collect their child.
Our approach to discipline is progressive, meaning consequences are intended to build in seriousness if the behavior persists. However, depending on the frequency and/or severity of an infraction, disciplinary action may vary and could begin with a more serious consequence if necessary. This ensures that the safety, respect, and positive experience of all participants remain our top priority.
Students who have a history of repeated behavioral misconduct prior to trips will be reviewed for participation.
These trips are a privilege to attend.
