Prerequisite:
Successful completion of Greek 3, teacher consultation and/or placement test for those new to the program. The students must have a spoken Greek background.
Course Description:
This course is designed for non-native speakers of Greek language and students with a Greek heritage who possess limited proficiency in the language. It aims to advance the four core language skills—reading, writing, listening and speaking, by introducing more complex grammatical structures and fostering a deeper command of the language.
The course focuses on enhancing students' reading and writing abilities through the study of carefully selected texts, including works of literature for students with advanced language acquisition following differentiated instructional design. Speaking and listening skills are developed through interactive activities such as oral narrations and dialogues. Students engage in the writing process to refine their ideas, improve language accuracy, and strengthen their organizational skills.
In reading, emphasis is placed on understanding the reading process and interpreting a diverse range of texts. Listening and speaking strategies are integrated to equip students with the ability to communicate effectively in various contexts. The exploration of selected literary texts further enriches the learning experience, providing cultural and linguistic depth.
